The Coronet rush is over...

Whew! Time to take a deep breath and relax...

Among all our SCA activities, Winter Coronet is the one that always sneaks up on us! After the holiday madness, we always slow down and get back into the swing of things, only to find that, ACK! It's almost time for Coronet, and we're not ready!

But we did manage to get our act together and go. The weather was indeed frightful on the journey to Anchorage, but it was worth the drive to see all of our friends again. Ben fought well in the tourney (that's him above in the black and gold, fighting Sir Dietrich), and was only beaten by the two knights. Our dear friend Sir Cyrus won the tournament and was invested as Prince of Oertha on Sunday. We also had a chance to visit with Baroness Eilis, another dear friend of ours, but one we only get to see about twice a year as she lives in California. Ben received the Queen's Order of Grace award, which is a rare and coveted award for exemplary behavior. The children ran around and did gods-only-knows what with the herd of other kids at the event, and we hardly saw them all weekend!

Now it's time to start working on new garb for the growing kiddos, and updating our website, as well as working on some officer changes...and we're waiting with baited breath to find out if our bid for Summer Coronet is accepted! If it is, there'll be plenty of planning and work for our little Shire over the next 6 months, as we prepare for putting on the biggest event of the year!

On the mundane end of things, we awoke this morning to the dreaded Post-Coronet Mess and a car that needs unpacking...ugh. The kids and I look forward to going to a friend's house this afternoon to make paper and candles...

Never a dull moment in the Stevens' Zoo!

Love,
Those Crazy Stevenses
